What I liked

I loved the ER experience I had in a stroke certified center. It prepared me to respond to emergency situations and I learned so much about emergent resuscitation that I can use in my current job in the ICU

What I wish was different

I wished to meet more alumni in pittsburgh area

Advice

It is an 8 week evaluation so do your best in all internships

Advice

I would advise any junior nursing student to apply for this internship because it was a great experience and really helped to get a feel for what nurses do in their every day job. It greatly helped me with my time management skills and my clinical hands on skills.

The team!! Great people and a great company.

Student nurse intern

May - July 2020 • Pittsburgh, PA

What I liked

I loved having a nurse preceptor to collaborate for the summer. I was placed with a SWAT nurse, who travels to different UPMC facilities. It was amazing to see different units and adapt to a variety of settings.

What I wish was different

I wouldn't change anything about this internship.

Advice

I recommend participating in this internship to further your clinical knowledge and receive hands-on experience prior to senior year. It has helped me in my courses and I feel more comfortable in the clinical setting.

Student Nurse Intern

May - August 2019 • Pittsburgh, PA

What I liked

I enjoyed the opportunity to have more autonomy with my preceptor than we do throughout the school year at clinical. I was able to greatly expand my nursing knowledge and gain further insight into potential post-grad careers and Master's/Doctorate degrees to apply for.

What I wish was different

I do not wish anything could be different.

Advice

I would go in with an open mind. I did not get my first choice unit, but it ended up being the best experience and I would not have changed it for anything.
