I loved being able to meet all the incoming students on our campus. Answering there many questions and keeping them at ease for starting college and making friends. I also learned a great deal about myself through the job and I continue to grow after the job.

What I wish was different

I wish it lasted longer, I had a great deal of fun and learned so much and never wanted it to end.

If you want to achieve something, no matter what it is, put yourself out there and do it.

Creativity and ideas are encouraged. Work is fairly self-paced. Support is offered consistently. Engaging with others who are passionate about same interests and beliefs.

What I wish was different

I wish I had been able to work full time. The hours were limited due to budget.

Advice

Stay open minded! Co-workers may not always have the same approach, but being open to collaboration and compromise goes a long way. Remember you're in a position to really impact and help women on campus. Always keep this in mind when planning programs!

I liked the location and the opportunity to meet other UWM instructors and employees outside the scope of my usual studies. I loved exploring the other areas of the Nursing community at UWM such as House of Peace and Silver Spring Nursing Center!

Don't be afraid to do some research on instructors doing research who interests you and reach out to them directly. You never know who is looking for help, and sometimes showing interest is what will get you the position!

What I liked

I really enjoyed the ease of the duties that the job includes. I feel like I really grew relationships with the staff when I worked over the summer as well. Scheduling was flexible and the area was very nice.

What I wish was different

I would have changed my wage, I feel as though I worked hard enough for a raise during the summer.

I would definitely make connections with your advisors and instructors for jobs on campus and just because they are really cool people.

Gained thorough experience in Android and iOS Development. Mentors were phenomenal with providing help.

What I wish was different

There was a period of time when I did not have an app to work on, and I was just learning whatever I wanted. It would have been nice to have some structured work, as in an app to work on. There was talk about getting a raise, but it has been about 4 or 5 months, and still no action has been taken.

Advice

This is a fantastic experience and a great way to gain specific software development experience. Other companies were very impressed with the projects I worked on during my internship.
