What I liked

I took part in an REU summer program at the University of Washington this summer, and I really appreciated all of the structure and support (housing, transportation, career advisors) that came with the job because it was through a long-standing, national program

What I wish was different

Nothing! They did a great job in both the social aspects by holding events with the whole cohort, as well as the academic side by having weekly seminars about different topics, and panels of speakers from different fields.

Advice

Just go for it. REUs are a great way to try something new, or something you might be interested in because they happen at a university/college and have a ton of support and resources for you, no matter your circumstances.
