“Since neuroscience research was new to me, I found the new types of technology used to look at nerves and cells was very interesting. On the first day I learned how pain reception was seen in peripheral nerves of mice under a laser microscope I had a graduate student who let me help her with her data as well. My job was very independent and I went at my own pace. Also, I was able to meet different colleagues in the department and other departments who always checked in on me and one even asked if I wanted her to write a recommendation letter for me. Every week a researcher from other colleges would come in to the department and share their research. I had a lot of new information coming out of this job. ”
