I love working with the Program Manager and Director of the ASUM Renter Center. The Renter Center is so interconnected within the University and the community that you get to know a variety of different people!

I wish more people knew about the Renter Center!
Advice
I would advise people to apply for jobs that may not be in their "career path." You never know what you might learn, who you might meet, or what universal skills you might learn which you can carry from one job to the next!

Neighborhood Ambassador

What I liked
Working for the ASUM Renter Center as a Neighborhood Ambassador has been one of the highlights of my time as an undergraduate at the University of Montana. The flexible scheduling allowed me to focus on school while making money and dedicating myself to my classes. The diversity of this position allows me to be at a neighborhood council meeting one minute and writing a blog post the next.
My favorite part of working at the Renter Center is making tangible differences. This position has connected me with people around the Missoula community.

What I liked
Working at the Renter Center opened my mind to issues I was not well-informed of, and prepared me to help solve problems affecting college students. I was aware of basic needs insecurity on campuses, but not at the level I learned about from working here. I am thankful to have had the opportunity to meet many stakeholders involved in addressing youth basic needs insecurity, and witnessed first-hand parts of the process to help solve the problem. My supervisor gave me lots of support and knowledge on the issue, and always provided as much relevant resources and information as possible to anyone in need.
