University of Minnesota TRIO McNair Scholars

About University of Minnesota TRIO McNair Scholars

The federally funded TRIO McNair Scholars program seeks to increase doctoral program application, matriculation, and degree attainment by underrepresented and first-generation college students.

The U of M McNair program is open to all Twin Cities students in all colleges and majors, U of M coordinate campuses (Crookston, Duluth, Rochester), and Minnesota colleges and universities that do not have their own McNair program: Carleton College, Hamline University, Macalester College, Metropolitan State University, Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota, St. Catherine University, St. John’s University, and University of St. Thomas.

Through this summer experience and academic year programming, McNair Scholars develop higher-level academic and research skills necessary to gain admission to and successfully complete graduate study.

Reviews

Undergraduage Researcher

June 2018 - August 2018 Binghamton, NY
“I loved having the opportunity to present my own research project at the University of Buffalo's Annual McNair Scholars Summer Research Conference. I was able to learn about many different fields of research, from biomedical engineering to social media's impact on modern literature. I also listened to great seminars on the graduate school application process, met admissions representatives at the graduate school fair, and networked with many professionals in my field!”
