What I wish was different
Our annual stipend is pitiful and the Graduate Assistants United (GAU) have recently been attempting to negotiate a better salary, though UF submitted a counteroffer with a measly 3% increase, which doesn't even match the rate of inflation that we experienced during COVID. I feel that the university takes advantage of its graduate students and doesn't care at all about our financial security. I feel especially bad for international students because they're restricted by law such that they can't pick up extra work outside of their grad program.
