I enjoyed a majority of the experience. I was given a great leadership opportunity to help mentor new research students.
What I wish was different
The sense of community was a little off compared to previous summers. This is of course due to COVID not allowing us to get together outside of work and bond like we did other summers.
Advice
Always take advantage of these type of free opportunities. They help you learn so much as well as look good on applications.

What I liked
The overall relaxed environment of the research laboratory was enjoyable while simultaneously getting work done and synthesizing a novel iridium catalyst.
What I wish was different
Overall I enjoyed the entire process and it paid well.
Advice
I would share that those coming in to this position should have a basic knowledge of chemistry and calculations.

The school offers this so take it! It will improve so many skills you will need working in your field.
