Peer Career Coach

August 2019 • Cincinnati, OH

What I liked

The work environment is very collaborative and supportive. I love interacting with students every day and being able to provide them with career enhancing services. The career coaches are very approachable and willing to help with any questions.

What I wish was different

The only thing that I wish that we had is monthly team meetings to get our questions answered. While our supervisor is great about speaking with us one-on-one, I think it would be helpful to get the whole team together.

Advice

My advice would be to remain open minded when talking to others about their experiences. Helping people with their resumes and cover letters should focus on helping them get the best experience possible.

Engineering Research Assistant

May - August 2018 • Cincinnati, OH

What I liked

This is kind of a on-campus job. Even though, this job is unpaid, I learned a lot about the Python Programming and Principal of Computing System. The most three things that I like are: Professor is really nice and friendly, schedule is really flexible, and the working station is really close to campus.

What I wish was different

The only thing that I wish have been different is that the project is not competitive enough.

Advice

Summer is actually not a good time to seek for a job. Thus, if you don't want to find a off-campus job in summer but you intent to do something meaningful, Research Program might be a good choice!

Student orientation leader

May - August 2019 • Cincinnati, OH

What I liked

I loved how close management and the SOLs were. We were one big team that came together to perform an amazing summer of orientations.

What I wish was different

There is very little I would change about my experience. I felt I grew as a leader, with my people skills, professionalism, problem solving, and public speaking. With all of this growth and many amazing memories I couldn't ask for much more.

Advice

My advice would be push yourself and focus on yourself. I say this because sometimes I would see someone else slacking and I thought it was ok. However, the best days I had were when I would catch myself slacking and push to work harder.
