I liked that I could make my own schedule and base my hours around my other summer activities. I also ran a summer camp in June and took a Spanish class simultaneously, and I was always able to work around my work schedule.
What I wish was different
I wish there could have been more opportunities for new trainings and gaining more responsibilities and skills.
Advice
If you have the opportunity to work a part time job while taking a summer class, DO IT! It is so beneficial and you'll be able to save up some extra cash when textbook season returns. Additionally, definitely try to get more comfortable talking to your coworkers, you might learn something new!

Student Leader, Arizona SHINE Program
June 2019 • Tucson, AZ
What I liked
I loved being able to connect with my fellow Student Leaders, as well as the program supervisors. Arizona SHINE helped build community among program participants, as well as between the University of Arizona Honors College and University High School. Additionally, facilitating activities and events for the program participants was a great learning experience for, as it allowed me to further explore my role as a mentor. This job helped me improve my leadership and interpersonal skills as well! Highly recommend.
