What I liked

This was an amazing company to work for anyone who is looking to get involved with the hospitality industry. The company's founder, Danny Meyer, is an amazing leader and there is so much to learn simply by listening and shadowing everyone in the company. The best part about my specific job was that I was able to learn so many different things and got to shadow people who really gave me an overall view of everything that goes into event production. There was also the opportunity for me to check in with my supervisor each week and if there was anything new that I wanted to learn about or see more of then I was given the chance to do so. The team there was so awesome and welcoming. The office itself is a very open concept and it is smaller so you feel like you can really get to know everyone.

What I wish was different

The only thing that I did not love about this program is that I was the only intern at this exact location. Union Square Events is a business under Union Square Hospitality Group which is also made up of 15 other restaurants and venues. The other interns were at the other locations all throughout the city. I missed the collaboration with interns that I was able to get in other internships.


To not be afraid to ask for more work or opportunities while there if you see something that you want to learn more about. Everyone is so welcoming there and they will be more than willing to share their work with you.
