I currently work on a medsurg floor so I get to see a variety of different diagnoses and learn something new every shift. My favorite part about the job is being able to interact directly with my patients on a daily basis. I also enjoy working closely with the registered nurses and physicians to give the possible best care.
What I wish was different
I wish that I had been a CNA earlier on because then I could have applied for the PCA II position and been able to draw blood for tests/ do some admin duties.
Advice
If you are planning to be a CNA or PCA, it can be very overwhelming at times but just do the best you can and delegate if possible. Also sometimes when patients aren't in the best state they can be hurtful but you just have to put yourself in their shoes and not take it personally!

Outpatient services Intern
June - August 2017 • Leominster, MA
What I liked
The people were wonderful, got to see a different side of patient health management.
What I wish was different
My manager was highly unorganized and did not have specified deliverables for my time there. In retrospect it would have been better to be utilized more for my specific skills.
Advice
Set clear goals with your immediate manager early and communicate your progress throughout the internship.
