The experience allowed me to delve into seeing what it takes to work for an elected official and what goes into making and passing policy. From the first day, I was getting hands-on experience in assisting with policy research and writing up briefs for my MP. The knowledge I gained and skills I refined have proven to be invaluable and have been transferrable to other positions I've taken on since.
What I wish was different
Advice
Take every opportunity possible to learn and do more. Take the initiative when possible-- it will pay off! And always, always leave on a good note with your supervisor.
