I have had a great experience as a lab assistant at the Gaudin lab. I have learned by working with graduate students as well as designing my own research projects. The hours were totally flexible and my boss was fantastic.

You have to practice having good time management because in a virtual internship, it is all on you to complete your assignments.

It has been a wonderful opportunity for me to get hands-on experience doing research, especially as someone who plans to enter into a PhD program.
What I wish was different
I would have loved to be able to dedicate more time to my internship over the summer but could not because I was taking summer courses as well.
Advice
Getting involved in research early can be a huge advantage to students who are interested in graduate school. It can help boost your confidence in your own abilities and also help you determine if you have any actual interest in doing research.
