IB EBS QA Intern

June - August 2021 • Nashville, TN

What I liked

The overall culture of UBS was amazing. Everyone was very helpful and willing to meet and answer any questions/offer advice at any time. UBS was focused on teaching us how to use the tools that we had acquired in school and it was cool to see that. The work we did as interns really mattered and had an impact on the bank as a whole.

What I wish was different

The internship ended up being remote. I wish that I could have been in the office more than I was able to.

Advice

Do not be afraid to ask questions or seek help while on the job. Your coworkers, and bosses, do not expect you to know everything and are always willing to help.

client service assoicate

November 2020 - February 2021 • New York City, NY

What I liked

Great opportunity to learn about the markets and wealth management industry.

What I wish was different

Management was not responsive or accommodating for training / employee onboarding. Having a supportive FA / MD would have been preferable.

Advice

Do not apply for the Client Service Associate position. The opportunities for career growth are limited and the amount of work you put in does not pay off in the end.

IT Intern

July - August 2020 • Nashville, TN

What I liked

Due to COVID-19, my internship was virtual. Despite these circumstances, I had a great experience as an intern within the Group Technology division. It was exciting to meet people from all around the world, and I had fantastic mentors who were able to give me new perspectives and advice.

What I wish was different

This was the first time UBS conducted a virtual internship on such a large scale. Therefore, it is difficult for me to picture my experience in any other way.

Advice

Don't be afraid to step out of your comfort zone! It is important to know that, as an intern, you aren't expected to know everything. However, with the right mindset you can learn to impress not only others around you, but yourself as well.

What I liked

I loved having a mentor in my program. It was so helpful and really made the virtual aspect easier to navigate with covid.

I wish that it was able to be in person, but due to the pandemic it had to be completely virtual
