I wish there had a bit more preparation upfront. Just some general locations, persons in the office, etc.
Advice
I'm a Democrat and I worked for the Majority. It was an incredible experience and for anyone interested in politics it is invaluable to spend time with people you don't necessarily agree with, but work together and build mutual respect.

Advice
If there is ever downtime in your office, look for something that can be improved and make that your days “project”... whether it involves cleaning out a closet, organizing a room/desk, etc.
