Phenomenal experience as an undergraduate student to work on transportation policy and policy implementation. The Volpe Center is filled with highly intelligent people and teams ranging from safety to sustainability. The teams are small, so you will get lots of responsibility and autonomy if you perform well. My team and leadership were amazing. They listened to what I wanted out of the internship and helped me get there.
What I wish was different
Held this internship during covid so everything was remote. There is a summer internship cohort but I did not get to meet many of my peers in different division because of the remote status.
Advice
Definitely take this opportunity if you can!! Great connections and great project experience. In my experience, post-grad employers really love to see federal work on a resume.
