Fund Administration Intern

June - August 2019 • Milwaukee, WI

What I liked

I thought U.S. Bank did a great job with their all around internship experience. Although we were with our respective teams for the majority of the internship, every week I either had an optional intern event, lunch with leaders or coffee with someone in the company(regardless of my department). I am grateful for the exposure I got while at U.S. Bank and the freedom to explore through conversation other areas of interest. Everyone I worked with was very friendly! Regardless of there level in leadership, every single person extended there business card and encouraged us to reach out afterward.

What I wish was different

Although we were given exposure to different areas of the bank, I wish there was a way to shadow another department for a week or split your time. Half way through my time with U.S. Bank I discovered an area which I was very excited about. I would have loved the opportunity to see what there day to day looked like.

Advice

My advice would be to take advantage of all the opportunities presented. Go to the intern events. Ask and extend an invitation for coffee to someone who admires you in the company. I think my internship experience was very positive because the interns went to the optional events. Our group invested in the summer and I walked away with new friends!

Cyber Security Data Science Intern

May - August 2018 • Cincinnati, OH

What I liked

The internship program was rich with networking opportunities, social events, and personal enrichment sessions in any area of finance and professional development I could want. I could also get meetings with just about anybody from the VP of Marketing for U.S. Bank to the leader of the company Red Team just by asking.

What I wish was different

I wish I had been able to present the results of my projects to a review board.

Advice

Definitely set up as many meetings as you can with people from all over the company. If they know you are an intern, and you show an intrest in their work, they will make time for you.

Software Developer Intern

June - August 2017 • Richfield, MN

What I liked

I like that I finally got a real world experience of what my major is like. All those hours spent in class and studying, to finally see it being applied towards something that can actually make a difference was very exciting. US Bank was an amazing company to intern for, it was a very diverse company which was exciting and the opportunity for an individual to move to varieties of fields within the company was great as well.

What I wish was different

I wish the internship started sooner since we get out of school at the end of April, I would love to have started at the beginning of May instead of June!

Advice

Just be open minded and be prepared to learn a lot at a one of the biggest companies in the banking industry.

Business Analyst

May - August 2018 • Minneapolis, MN

What I liked

I enjoyed the amount of responsibility I was given, the skills that I gained, and the people I had the opportunity to work with.

What I wish was different

I would have liked to have been able to work more closely with projects in business lines that I was most interested in (such as Finance), but either way I was happy with the subject matters I was involved with.

Advice

Be proactive. It's important to remember that you're only an intern, so often the more initiative you take to connect with others and take on more work, the better.
