I enjoyed the chance to work on military research, being close to the hospital, and the various people I worked with.

What I wish was different

I wish that I was able to explore more of the hospital and possible work with some physicians.

Along with every other job, I would advise all who come to be self motivated.

What I liked

I enjoyed the professional climate and the opportunity to work alongside senior military officers. Their knowledge and expertise has influenced me tremendously, and I am now more aware of future opportunities that the Army offers. In addition to that, I enjoyed the location and the culture; the local German citizens were very friendly and the environment was blissful. I also enjoyed the opportunity to travel during the weekend and immerse into another culture. Because of this internship, I was able to visit France, Croatia, and Italy without breaking the budget; I even went to Italy twice.

What I wish was different

As far as the internship goes, I would keep everything the same. However, the only thing I wish that would be different is reliable transportation. Since we lived on Kelley Barracks, we (the cadet interns) would have to take the private military shuttle bus to Patch Barracks (where we worked) every morning. Sometimes the ride back home could last up to over an hour. Providing a car for the interns would allow us to get to work and home faster, as opposed to waiting until the next hour on the clock to get a ride from the bus.

Advice

Learn German. Although many German citizens speak English, speaking German shows the locals that you have respect for their culture, and it makes them more willing to converse with you.
