I loved working with kids and teaching them about God. I also enjoyed lifeguard training and lifeguarding on a waterfront. I think the camp helped me advance my communication skills and volunteering to do a task.
What I wish was different
I was assigned to a lot of day camps or Vacation Bible School's rather than working on the camp site. I was only able to lead the elementary camp near the end of the job but I really wish I was able to work on site more. I also wish I got to lifeguard more. I only lifeguarded for two weeks and I was I was able to more. I really enjoyed it and I felt like all the training for only two weeks was intense.
Advice
Being a counselor at camp is a great opportunity for advancing communication skills and learning how to deal with conflict.
