The company I interned for really made the summer for me. They were a small group of incredible smart, emotionally intelligent, healthy people who had the most enriched opinions that offered insight into their lives and yes, even mine. I loved the city as well. It is the perfect place for young singles because it offers wholesome activities for anyone and everyone, whether they are into sports, partying, history, etc.
What I wish was different
I wouldn't change anything about this experience because I truly made it my own. If I didn't like something, I changed it.
Advice
My answer to the previous question about what I wish was different is very bold. Indeed, some might look at it and say, "that's easier said than done." That is absolutely true. In fact, having that much power to change your situation is virtually impossible in all situations but the right one. Here is my advice on getting into the right situation:
Start right.
I would not have had such an amazing time in Berlin if I wasn't working at a company that I felt was a match made in heaven. I would not have worked with that company had I not prayed about, pondered, and eventually decided on going to Berlin. The first decision is easy. The Berlin Internship can be purposed towards any goal. If you want to travel Europe, for fleeting fun and an Instagram flex with minimal investment in your work, you can do that. If you want an amazing professional and cultural experience that will lead to full-time employment and life-long friends, you can do that as well. I chose the latter, and to me, it is the only choice.
The second decision - finding a company - is also a simple one. I think finding a company to work for is like dating. You can put on a facade in interviews and get many offers, but that inherently disqualifies any sincere fulfillment or enjoyment in accepting and working at any of those companies. If you let your unique personality and experience shine, faking nothing, AT FIRST CONTACT with companies, you will find that you get less hits, but the one you do get is magic.
Start right.
