I loved the relationships that I built with the Principal Investigators and other Researchers in my group. I was able to contribute to two different project and learn valuable lab technical skills. I also was able to clinically shadow a physician which was very educational and interesting.
What I wish was different
I wish I had been paid and I wish I had been accepted as part of an organized intern program instead of just a personal offer.
Advice
Other students who wish to assist in a Tufts Med lab should simply email a bunch of PIs whose research interests them! Do not give up if you don't get responses; just keep sending emails! The relationships you can build by being persistent are invaluable.

What I liked
It was a very informative and empowering experience, was able to get exposure into a field I am interested in.
What I wish was different
It would've been nice to get paid or receive a travel stipend at the least, but that's not typical for research positions like this one.
Advice
If you are interested in or passionate about a field, definitely try to get exposure and experience in it to the best of your ability, even if it means not getting paid.

Collaborative efforts are extremely important to make sure that everyone is on the same page. And besides the science itself, lots of things required extensive planning, research, and communication!
