I really enjoyed working with my clients and building relationships with them. I learned a lot about how to better work with children who have autism. I also liked the work environment, everyone was very friendly and welcoming.
What I wish was different
What I wish had been different about this job is the compensation if someone cancelled or did not attend therapy sessions for other reasons. I wish that either we were given a replacement session in place of one that was cancelled or given the regular amount of pay because it is not our fault that the client cancelled the session for whatever reason.
Advice
A piece of advice I would share about this experience is to always have patience and remember why you're working there. It can be difficult at times or frustrating when working and its important to keep yourself calm and patient so that the session continues to run smoothly.

Advice
Initially I wasn't looking to take on a job working with kids on the autism spectrum because I know how tough the job can be. After months of job hunting with no luck, this org reached out and wanted to meet with me. So far, I'm really glad I took a chance and accepted. I'm meeting a lot of great people, and I'm getting the chance to do something truly meaningful and rewarding with a population that is often misunderstood. and even under-represented. Moral of the story: take a chance and try something new. It may surprise you, and you may even surprise yourself. Worst case scenario is you get something else to add to your resume!
