Trinity Logistics

Operations Intern

May - August 2022 • Kansas City, MO

What I liked

The Culture, everyone was extremely nice and helpful. Excellent training. People go out of their way to welcome you or help you.

What I wish was different

The way shadows are set up and advertised. When applying for the job it says you will spend this amount of time doing this then you'll switch to this and so on. That did not happen at all. You ask to shadow the different departments and its more just like a meeting than anything else. It is also a lot of busy work to me, might be different if you are die hard for logistics and the 3PL industry. Also maybe less cold calling.

Advice

Don't take this internship unless you are wanting to work in logistics. The company is a 3PL (third party logistics) which means they are essentially property/freight brokers. The employees make commission so management will assign the cases that are easiest to sell to them and give the intern the harder ones to where you might call up to 50 or more truckers before you sell a job or give up. Unless you want to work for a 3PL or want "Operations Intern" on your resume don't take the internship.
