Camp Counselor

June - August 2019 • East Troy, WI

What I liked

I loved the people I worked with and the campers that I counseled. The environment that I worked in was healthy and positive. I was always supported when I needed help with campers who were difficult and affirmed when I was doing a great job. The communication at this job was amazing, it made it easier to work with the amount of structure and expectations they gave.

What I wish was different

I wish that we had longer than a 24 hour break every week. Working 24/6 is hard on your body so I wish we had more recovery time. Although it is possible to have a day break, I think it would be helpful to make it longer.

Advice

This job is hard work but it's the most rewarding job I've ever had. It's never boring, it is always interesting and fun. If you are looking to impact young lives, this is definitely the job for you!

Educational Department Assistant - Christian Ministries

August 2019 • Deerfield, IL

What I liked

I like being able to develop various skills such as prioritization, time management, effective communication, initiative, etc. I feel appreciated and valued by the Department Head and other faculty, and am learning more about the administrative side to the education world.

What I wish was different

There are challenges to working in this position while being a student; for one, I must constantly battle my work in conjunction with my school work. School seems to take the priority at times, though I sometimes wish that I could focus more on my work.

Advice

If you are considering applying for a position such as this, I would certainly say go for it. This is a great resume builder and will help you develop transferable skills to any job field.
