Software Development Engineering Intern

May - August 2019 • Lone Tree, CO

What I liked

This internship gave me hands-on experience with working in a corporate environment on practical real-world tasks. It made it easier to understand how I can make use of the skills that I've gained at university. The intern programming contained a myriad of information about useful career & life skills.

What I wish was different

The feedback loop on the work that I was doing was sometimes long, making it difficult to assess what ways I could improve in.

Advice

Make sure to journal and document everything. It helps with remembering what you've been accomplishing, which is tremendously helpful for your own reference, as well as when you need to be accountable for what you've been doing to a manager.

What I wish was different

Nothing, was a great experience.

Every intern seemed to have different roles- be ready for anything depending on your manager.

Software Development Engineering Intern

May - August 2019 • Denver, CO

What I liked

Intern program is really great. Lots of fun events and learning opportunities. Nice, laid back work environment. My manager gave me a lot of freedom with my project and let me do it in my own way.

What I wish was different

I wish there had been slightly more guidance in the process. The freedom was nice, but I spent a lot of time 'in a vacuum' just sitting at my desk working and hoping I was doing things correctly.

Advice

Give it your all. Job offers can be hard to come by, but it is extremely valuable to have the opportunity to prove yourself to a company over an extended period of time rather than just in a short interview. Show them why they want to hire you.

Data Analyst Intern

May 2019 • Smyrna, GA

What I liked

I like the many lunch and learns we had that allowed us to learn about so many other aspects of the business that I would not have expected to learn about.

What I wish was different

I would have liked to work with other interns on projects more rather than projects kept so tightly on our own teams.

Advice

Be confident in the work you are putting out, and do not be afraid to ask questions.
