The team was very relaxed and was happy to afford me the time I needed to adjust to the truck-load of new information I was given. The company culture is very learning-oriented.
What I wish was different
The learning curve was very steep, and while everyone around me helped a lot I still found myself confused sometimes.
Advice
Enjoy your time there and take every opportunity.

Indirect Procurement Co-Op

What I liked
The people were amazing! I was paired with great managers who taught me as much as they could in the short summer I spent with the company, and It was overall a great experience. It was really made apparent that they really cared about you. The college programs at Toyota also had many great opportunities for interns to network and listen to speakers from across the corporation.
Every other intern I spoke with across multiple departments had similar things to say.

Advice
Reaching out to as many people as you can is probably the best thing you can do here. The culture at Toyota really encourages it!
They also had events, socials, and networking opportunities specifically put in place for the interns. I would strongly recommend going to as many of these as you can.

Production Engineer
May - August 2023 • Greensboro, NC
What I liked
I loved the culture of Toyota! This was my second internship located in Greensboro NC and I was helping with the production of the new battery plant. It was an amazing experience. Everyone was always so kind and helpful and I would recommend this to anyone!
What I wish was different
I personally found out that I enjoy more of a "floor" setting rather than sitting behind a desk (keep in mind this was a more "corporate" co-op as I was helping prepare for the building of the new battery plant). I personally enjoy more of a hybrid life style and I know that this plant will eventually come to that however my time there was mostly at a desk in front of a computer screen.
Advice
All engineers know that nothing ever goes to as planned. Be flexible, adaptable and versatile!

Body Weld Production Engineering Co-Op
May - August 2023 • Georgetown, KY
What I liked
Toyota cares. As soon as I walked through the doors my first day, I felt uplifted and supported by my fellow team members. I was given real projects and responsibilities but didn't feel like I had no one to turn to if I needed help or guidance.
What I wish was different
Term went by so fast! I wish I could've stayed a little longer.
Advice
There is no growth in the comfort zone and no comfort in the growth zone. You have to challenge yourself and take risks.
