I loved getting hands on experience working for a campaign that I believed in. I was able to learn about the details that go into making a campaign succesful. I felt like I was actually making a difference everyday I went to work, and now after having finished the position I feel like I have gained good experienc on how a campaign works and how to communicate effectively.
What I wish was different
If the position had been payed I would've been able to put in more time into the position. However, without pay I had to have a part time job on the side.
Advice
Campaigns always always always need help, so you should contact them if you're interested. Anything from a job to volunteering is a great way to get experience and feel impactful.

What I liked
I really liked being able to participate in a campaign from walking in parades to meeting with groups of people to talk about Minnesota politics.
What I wish was different
I had to phone bank pretty much every day and it ended up being really repetitive and boring.
Advice
I would definitely take a job where you get to talk to people from different political backgrounds, because being born and raised in a very liberal city I haven't had an opportunity to talk to people raised in rural conservative areas and listen to how their political opinions are shaped by their upbringing.
