What I liked
The organization is full of welcoming, competent people who are passionate about their work. Everyone who works at Thorne works hard to get kids connected to nature because they genuinely believe in the mission.
I have particularly enjoyed the After School program that Thorne runs. I like that I get to see the same group of students each week so that we can build a relationship and a knowledge base as the program progresses.
What I wish was different
I wish the training had been more extensive. There were times when I didn't know how to answer a student's question. I also wanted to know more about why we taught the curriculum and exactly how it positively affects the students' wellbeing.
Advice
Do not be afraid to ask questions and communicate with your supervisor and other people in the office. Everyone is so friendly and eager to talk about Thorne that they will happily tell you about their experience.
Also, wear waterproof shoes and tall socks!
