Thomaston Savings Bank

Operations Intern

May - August 2019 • Thomaston, CT

What I liked

I liked the extremely friendly and helpful staff, as well as the opportunity to learn new things such as working with Internet Banking. This internship has prepared me for the professional workforce world by having me attend meetings as well as dress professionally and follow a set schedule.

What I wish was different

I wish that I had been given a little more background information on how banking institutions such as Thomaston Savings Bank operate. Working on some of the projects proved to be difficult without knowing certain pieces of knowledge.

Advice

Always act professionally even when things are not running smoothly. Also, do not be afraid to ask for help as employers would rather you ask for help on a project instead of you making mistakes.

Loans Servicing Intern

June - August 2018 • Thomaston, CT

What I liked

Great office experience. Learned a lot about workplace etiquette, phone etiquette, and how to interact with customers in a very professional manner. I was able to learn all of this through first hand experience. I also had a great boss who was very nice and helpful. I was also able to adapt and learn what a consistent 8-5, 40 hours a week felt like.

What I wish was different

I wish I was able to do some higher level tasks, but overall I did have a good amount of work to do.

Advice

If you’re thinking of getting a full time summer internship. Do it. It is a huge time commitment, but it is definitely worth the experience and figuring out where you belong in the working world.
