Intern, Marketing and Special Events
June - August 2018 • Charlottesville, VA
What I liked
I liked that I got to participate in the various high profile events that they hosted such as the Juneteenth Celebration and the 4th of July Naturalization Ceremony where I got to meet a lot of people and help the organizations form connections with the surrounding community
What I wish was different
I wish that seen more diversity. I could tell that things were changing through their selection of their board members and their tours' approach to topics such as slavery, but it still was lacking.
Advice
I would tell someone to be flexible. Especially during events, it's important not to get flustered when things are not going according to plan.

Garden Intern
May - August 2018 • Charlottesville, VA
What I liked
I liked learning about horticulture by working in gardens that Thomas Jefferson once designed and used. I liked interacting with the patrons and my fellow colleagues.
What I wish was different
I had a perfect experience at Monticello. I do not wish anything to be different.
Advice
This internship was not easy. It required a lot of physical work. However, the experience was completely amazing and one that I will never forget.
