Camp Science Teacher
May - July 2019 • Towson, MD
What I liked
I had a great time working with campers of all ages. Every day we did a new science experiment. A curriculum of experiments was given to me, but my managers also gave me the creative freedom to come up with my own lessons/experiments.
What I wish was different
The days were extremely hot and towards the end of the summer we were severely understaffed. Camp leadership did very little checking in with me. I wish I had more feedback to improve my performance.
Advice
Working with children of any age can be challenging. If you keep a positive and upbeat attitude, the campers will follow. It's important to make campers feel like they are wanted. I saw too many co-workers complain about their job in front of campers.
