It was an awesome, unique, and challenging job. The management and my coworkers were all family and we spent time together outside of work regularly.
What I wish was different
The hours are really inconsistent because your schedule will get pushed around depending on how much business the park is getting. Sometimes you will leave a few hours early. Sometimes you might be asked to stay late and work a 10 or 11 hour shift to help with a really late tour. Because of the crazy hours and a partial dependence on tips your paycheck can vary wildly and unpredictability.
This job will exhaust you both physically and emotionally. It can be really difficult to keep up the positive energy after weeks of tours, but if you support your other guides they will support you and that will make your job much more enjoyable.
