The Public Theatre is a 307 seat Equity theatre in Central Maine. We operate under an SPT (category 9) contract with Actors' Equity Association, producing from Oct - May. Each season we offer Internships in Directing, Stage Management, and Acting.
Please see posted jobs for available internships. You may view the possible internship opportunities here: http://www.thepublictheatre.org/education/internships/
All interns receive a hands-on education. As The Public Theatre operates under the guidance of a small staff, there is no bureaucracy to get lost in and every effort is valued. Interns are assured of receiving individual tasks and individual attention. Our interns work and study with professionals and have an opportunity to become an integral part of The Public Theatre. Most internships are a 4 -5 week commitment and interns are eligible to receive EMC points.
Compensation and Credit. For college students course credit can often be arranged for internships. Housing for interns may be provided if needed. Each intern receives a small stipend. The Public Theatre operates under a Small Professional Theatre contract with Actor's Equity Association, and Equity membership points are available for those interested.
