What I liked

Being a PE Intern at PENTA has been amazing so far. I have been exposed to different trades scopes and processes that occur to make a project happen. Everyone here wants to help you learn and grow as a person, not just as an employee. My project team was also very flexible with my schedule and gave me numerous learning opportunities.

What I wish was different

I wish that interns would get exposed to all trade scopes. At some projects not all trade scopes are present, therefore it is more difficult to get exposer to them.

Advice

Do not be afraid to ask questions, even if they seem simple. Everyone wants to help you learn here and asking questions will help you learn and allow your teammates to understand what you may need more help on.

What I liked

I love the diversity and culture of the company. It is unique and different from other corporate companies' HR departments. Everyone is so welcoming and encourages learning opportunities for the interns. That's what sets PENTA apart from the others. I got to meet a lot of new people and make valuable connections throughout my time here. I also learned more about the construction industry!

What I wish was different

Advice

As the first HR Intern here at PENTA, I encourage you to get to know why your role is important and valuable to the company. Try to be open about learning new things and ask a bunch of questions. HR can be unique to each industry. It is important to take initiative and stand up for yourself too. Your internship experience is what you make of it!

The culture reminds me of home and that this company really treats each other like family. Everyone is willing to teach you every and anything you want to learn about. My personal favorite is that I learned so much more being in the field every day!

What I liked

The PENTA Culture is very open and friendly. They take teamwork seriously and really make you feel like your job matters and you are a fully participating employee. Everyone is super willing to help each other out, and are focused on what is best for the project.

What I wish was different

Better housing. It is very expensive to find a temporary apartment in Las Vegas.

Advice

Be willing to ask questions and be proactive in looking for different learning and work opportunities on the job.

Advice

PENTA is a general contractor, which isn't as glamourous as working at a startup or fashion company, but they had a fantastic culture and held their internship program near and dear to their heart. I learned so much about the design-build and construction process, and even though that industry wasn't originally interesting to me, I was excited to come to work to learn about it every day. Don't be turned off by an industry or type of company that you didn't necessarily have in mind at first. You might find a new passion there!
