The PB&J Fund envisions a Charlottesville where all community members are strengthened by and have access to affordable, healthful food. We empower children and families through culinary and nutritional education, while improving access to affordable, healthful food for under-resourced community members.
The PB&J Fund utilizes a CHEF (Community / Health / Education / Friendship) framework to realize our commitment to providing holistic experiences for our participants that are educational, empowering and fun. We run three types of programs for the community: CHEF Kids, CHEF Families and CHEF for a Day.
CHEF Kids is our youth-focused program and is curriculum-based, with themed units that build culinary, nutritional, and safety skills. CHEF Families is our parent and family-based program that emphasizes the social and emotional benefits of family meal time. CHEF for a Day is our field trip program that introduces K-3rd grade students to our teaching kitchen and healthy eating principles.
