I loved the positive workplace environment; all the staff were so kind and happy to be there. I also loved learning about Newark and the museum through my projects in the archives. I am thankful that the internship committee put so much into educating us about both the Newark Museum and about the broader museum field.
What I wish was different
Perhaps the schedule so that I could do 24 hours a week in three days rather than four to help with the commute.
Advice
Take advantage of opportunities to meet with people and ask questions. Everyone there was so open and willing to speak about their positions and experiences. There was the option of shadowing people in other departments to get a taste of the different areas of work that people do in museums.
