I liked my daytime shifts and the summer recreational activities we could do with the individuals.

What I wish was different

I wish my coworkers would have adhered to the schedule better. The supervisors were frequently scrambling to fill shifts that people bailed on.

Advice

Always be patient and kind. This job requires you work with varying abilities and guide individuals through skills and activities at their own pace.

Getting to know so many people and the opportunity to take care of people and show them how to be independent

I wish I could have changed a few more people’s lives by being able to be with them longer than a few months

Advice

Seeing how other people look at those with disabilities is horrible. So helping people understand it goes a long way for everyone
