Administrative Support

May - August 2019 • San Diego, CA

What I liked

I liked the ability to learn from a different industry type than I was used to. Also, I had to ability to work more independently than I was used to which help myself grow as an employee.

What I wish was different

I wish that I had the opportunity to work within a different department for some of my time during the internship.

Advice

A piece of advice that I would give about this experience would be that, if possible, to try and work at a place where you have the opportunity to work independently so that one is able to grow themselves as an employee and also to learn how you work as a person inside an industry.

Engineering Intern/Co-op (2 Semesters)

September 2018 - August 2019 • Euclid, OH

What I liked

It is clear that everyone you work alongside wanted me to grow and challenged me to do better. Being able to work at the headquarters was a wonderful experience because it opened me up to meeting many important people in the company (including the CEO) and everyone is more than happy to share career and life advice. The Human Resources team and supervisors I worked for were also very adamant about making sure I was enjoying my work and felt like I was making an impact. Lincoln Electrics co-op and intern program is wonderfully designed with lunch and learn opportunities and plenty of networking events; the team behind it continues to make it more amazing every year.

What I wish was different

I wish I would have set more concrete goals for my professional development and checked in with my supervisor more often on those topics. I don't doubt that they would have taken the time to do so.

Advice

Recognize that this is a learning experience and ask as many questions as possible to make sure you are on the same page as the person you are working with. Communication can make or break a project/internship.
