What I liked

I liked the unique population of kids we served, which made the work incredibly rewarding. The fact that Heritage is a non-profit organization with a strong commitment to its mission added to the appeal. Additionally, the support and scaffolding provided for my career and education were exceptional. Most of my supervisors were kind, supportive, and engaged in helping us succeed, which made the overall experience highly positive.

What I wish was different

While my experience at Heritage was largely positive, there were some variations in the quality of supervisors I encountered. It would have been ideal if there was more consistency in this regard. However, this was a minor drawback in an otherwise fulfilling experience.

Advice

My advice to anyone considering working at Heritage Schools is to embrace the opportunity for personal and professional growth. Take advantage of the support and scaffolding they offer for your career and education. Additionally, stay open to the possibility of forming meaningful connections with the unique population of children we serve. It's a chance to make a real difference in their lives while enhancing your own development.

Home Lead

What I liked

I loved my direct supervisors. They always supported their staff and really cared about them. They were great at showing their staff appreciation through things like gift cards, handwritten thank you cards, verbal appreciation, and supportive emails. I loved the kids and the opportunity to help them build healthy relationships.

What I wish was different

I wish the admittance standards set by upper management for the kids to get into the transitional program were actually followed.

Advice

Building good and healthy relationships with the kids requires the ability to set boundaries while also being relatable. Employees of Heritage who I saw succeed were those who could relate with troubled teens of all backgrounds.
