Young Toddlers Assistant Teacher

May 2018 • Grandville, MI

What I liked

This is my dream job! I loved that my job was in my field and I was able to apply what I learned at CU in my classroom. I loved interacting with the students and building a relationship with each student.

What I wish was different

The job was pretty great, but we are under new management so there is a time of transition going on. Other than that, I have no complaints.

Advice

Ask lots of questions and don't be afraid to branch out and interact with the parents as well.

Resource Teacher

December 2017 • Murrysville, PA

What I liked

I really enjoyed working hands on with students ranging from 6 weeks to 5 years old! As a early childhood/special education major this job truly gives me wonderful experience working with children. I enjoyed waking up everyday and going into work to see my students.

What I wish was different

Sometimes I could make lesson plans. I typically help out with classroom management and adjusting behavior distractions. I also would take care of passing out morning and afternoon snack plus lunch.

Advice

To learn how to be patient with your work process. At first, it was hard to earn respect from the students since I look pretty young to be considered an adult. Sometimes the students would try to play games with me since I was new, but after some time I have earned their respect.
