Very flexible and remote work. Pays better than on campus jobs and I got to choose my own hours.
What I wish was different
I wish I could’ve actually gone to New York to see the office.
Advice
Be flexible and courteous. It goes a long way. History lovers welcome!

Public History Intern
June - August 2018 • New York City, NY
What I liked
Every part of the internship was rewarding and a great education experience. I worked with archives and got to conduct historical research. In addition to interest work, the office had a friendly and open culture, the internship (GLI archives) was very well located. Interns also got an ID card that allowed us free or reduced admission into many NYC museums.
What I wish was different
Nothing -- everything about the internship was enjoyable.
Advice
Don't be dissuaded from applying because of a lack of experience. It is a competitive position, but people without formal experience in archives or library science were still hired.
