AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM ASSISTANT POSITION OPENING
THE COMPASS SCHOOL, KINGSTON, RI
The Compass School is currently seeking after school and vacation day Farm Camp Counselors. ‘Farm Camp’ is our student-named after school program, running from 3-5 pm Tuesday-Thursday. We also offer Farm Camp during vacation days such as Election day, Student Conferences, etc. Program runs Sept-June with winter and holiday breaks.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead students in farm related activities including cooking farm to table meals, working in the gardens, exploring campus ecology, doing outdoor activities, outdoor play, nature crafts and team games
Work with Farm Director to develop and implement inquiry based, hands on educational programs that matches the goals of environmental sustainability and social responsibility on the farm
Incorporate art, music, science, history or other passion areas into student learning
Work in cooperation with co-counselors and farm director
QUALIFICATIONS
Must have experience working with K-4th grade students
Experience with outdoor education strongly preferred.
Enjoy being outdoors, teaching, be a self-starter, leading outdoor play and projects
Applications for this position will be accepted on a rolling basis through June 30th.
Criminal Background specific to The Compass School required
Current 1st aid/CPR preferred
Flexible and creative with children and co-workers
Ability to organize and prioritize, manage time effectively, complete tasks efficiently
Hourly pay is commensurate with experience, ranging from $10.10 to $15 per hour.

Our historic farm property offers a beautiful food growing environment for small groups of students to engage in project learning with ties to the school day curriculum. The farm also serves as an educational resource; supporting the school mission through curriculum enhancement and community outreach.
