Barista
May - August 2018 • Santa Barbara, CA
What I liked
Very accommodating and flexible manager. I have returned to work here a few summers in a row and always have a good experience.
What I wish was different
More free time for me to do other things in the summer. I was working about 40 hours (by choice) each week in order to prepare for coming back to school.
Advice
Barista is a good summer job if you have worked it before, but is not something that you can easily pick up and master over one summer. Having worked here before made it easy to transition back into the position.

Shift Supervisor
July 2015 • Rancho Cucamonga, CA
What I liked
As a supervisor I like having responsibility and being able to deal with customers. I am given more responsibilities and when my general manager is gone I am in charge of handling customer complaints and inventory transfers between stores.
What I wish was different
Nothing
Advice
I think a lot of times when you are young a lot of older customers will try to bully you. You have to remember to hold your ground. Some people may get upset over company policies and yell at you, but you have to stay calm. Just remember that it is not your fault and not to take it personally.

What I liked
I love my regular customers! We know each other very well and my co-workers make my shift a breeze.
What I wish was different
I wish certain managerial duties were different and that we had more support at our store.
Advice
I would recommend everyone get a summer job if they are not going to school, but take time to travel and have new experiences too.
