The Chemours Company

Tax Accounting and Compliance Intern

May 2024 • Wilmington, DE

What I liked

I truly enjoyed my experience as an intern at Chemours. I was able to learn a lot about not only tax accounting and compliance but about the industry as well. I had true assignments that allowed me to grow and expand my knowledge on various tax processes. I was also given a lot of tasks that allowed me to learn a little bit about every part of the tax department as well as the integral parts of tax compliance.

What I wish was different

I wish I was able to connect with more interns. Chemours has a lot of different locations so there are interns all over the country. It is also a hybrid work environment, so you aren't able to see everyone that works at your particular site because you may have different in office days.

Advice

Don't be afraid to try everything. You have to be willing to try any and everything in order to get the full experience. They do not care if you mess up as they will walk you through how to fix it, but they just want to see you trying.

What I liked

What I like most about this internship is the opportunity to connect and interact with experienced engineers from different backgrounds and experience levels. I also liked the communication and effort my mentor has made for me get the most out of my experience with Chemours.

Advice

One piece of advice I would give, is to come in with an open mind and be willing to learn. Chemours provides all the resources to continuously grow as a professional, it is up to how much one is willing to learn.

Business Analyst Intern

June - August 2022 • Wilmington, DE

What I liked

Chemours has a very positive and supportive work culture. Everyone I interacted with at the company was very helpful and kind. I also enjoyed the data work I did as a part of my internship. I had to learn a new program for my role and I had access to many great resources to support my progress. I also enjoyed the hybrid style of the internship. I went into the Wilmington office building once a week, so I appreciated getting to have the in person experience.

What I wish was different

I wish that more people had been in at the office. Chemours workers still work mostly remote, due to the variety of locations people work from. It would have been nice to see the office as it would have been pre-pandemic.

Advice

I would say that you have to be willing to learn and be collaborative to succeed at Chemours. My internship was an incredible experience and I would absolutely recommend Chemours to any student.

Chemical Engineering Intern

June - August 2019 • Deepwater, NJ

What I liked

I never thought I would learn so much in one summer. I learned exactly what it meant to be a technical engineer on a plant site because you perform real engineering work that a chemical engineer on site would do.

What I wish was different

I was one of six interns on the plant site, but the only one in my building. It was pretty lonely to not have another intern around, but the engineers I worked with were very friendly.

Advice

I would suggest having a decent grasp on principles of thermodynamics and fluids because you often apply them to the work and problem-solving you have to do. I suggest re-familiarizing yourself with this material, and if you get stuck, don't be afraid to ask questions!

Chemical Solutions Engineering Intern

May - August 2018 • Newark, DE

What I liked

I fully enjoyed the work that I was given in the Newark office doing process development and validation. Furthermore, the working environment was very relaxed and friendly and everyone in the office was happy to teach me anything I did not know and worked to include me in activities.

What I wish was different

Sometimes, there was not enough of the exciting process work to go around between myself and the other interns. This led to slower days when there was little work to be done. However, this is not the fault of the company, more the nature of the project in the short time I was working there.

Advice

Don't be afraid to ask questions and ask for more work. Be sure to make the most of all the projects that are given to you and work for the highest standard you can produce because they will notice your efforts.
