Research Intern at the Center for Health, Identity, Behavior and Prevention Studies (CHIBPS)
May - August 2018 • Newark, NJ
What I liked
I liked that this experience gave me the opportunity to be involved in health research and learn about all of the things that one needs to do in order to reach a target population, keep them engaged, and encourage participation in your research project.
What I wish was different
I wish I had been more vocal about some of my ideas for improving our outreach and communication efforts.
Advice
I would advise people interested in completing a research internship to always remember the purpose of their work and keep it in mind while carrying out all of the many tasks involved. I would also suggest that you develop your own self-care routine to help recharge and keep focused every week, because this work can be very involved.
