What I liked

I like how I learned about coding and the misconceptions of mental health, specifically depression and suicide.

What I wish was different

I wish the research lab was in person so I can meet my colleagues and have a hands on research experience.

Advice

Although doing research and coding isn't as easy online, it's definitely doable!

Psychology Research Assistant

August 2020 - October 2021 • Washington, DC

What I liked

I liked how it wasn't only a research team, but also a community of people who were advocating for mental health and suicide prevention. I also enjoyed how as a community, we supported each others research interests and topics.

What I wish was different

I wish there was more research done on multicultural populations so the stigma of mental health in ethnically diverse communities can decrease.

Advice

I think this research experience was an overall great learning experience for my life and my future career in the psychology field. I've learned how to implement prevention methods for those struggling with suicidal thoughts. I've also learned a lot about the meaning of life and the importance of living a healthy, fulfilling life.
