The Brandman Agency

Public Relations Intern

January - May 2021 • Los Angeles, CA

What I liked

Overall, this internship was a great learning experience. As an intern, I was able to dabble in a bunch of different tasks. From drafting press releases, monitoring and compiling client coverage to creating influencer profiles and potential collaboration lists. My supervisor and a Bradman Agency account manager, Amelia was exceptional at outlining and explaining each task and made sure to always check-in every few weeks to make sure we were accomplishing some of the internship goals I set at the beginning. Such a great experience, highly recommend!

What I wish was different

Similar to the review below, I do wish that I saw more diversity within the company. While it is nice to see so many women holding high-level positions, it did feel very ostracizing to be the only POC in the zoom meetings.

Advice

Be open to all different assignments and ask as many questions as you can.

Public Relations Intern

What I liked

This was my first office internship so it was a very good experience for me. The location was nice and easy to get to. Everyone in the office was also very nice and welcoming.

What I wish was different

I was the only African-American person in the office and one of two people of color. Granted it was a small office but, it would've been nice to see more diversity. I always feel more comfortable in an environment where there is more diversity and I am more inclined to ask for help from a coworker of that comes from a more diverse background. However there were mostly women in the office which was nice and the company was also founded by a woman. I also was not too interested in the work I was doing, probably because I am not too interested in working in public relations but, I still gladly took any work that came my way.

Advice

Be proactive and ask for tasks because if you don't very few will come your way and it gets very boring if you have nothing to do.
