The Barton Center For Diabetes Education, Inc,

Program Director

June - August 2019 • North Oxford, MA

What I liked

Taking on a new administrative position was challenging, but I learned so much about leadership, communication, and organization.

What I wish was different

I wish I could have been more organized in my position. This position was reliant on making schedules for all staff and campers throughout the day. Coming into, I had no idea how organized I had to be, but by the end had a solid grasp on the job.

Advice

Communication is everything, never be afraid to ask from help from your coworkers or superiors.

Student Nurse

June - August 2017 • North Oxford, MA

What I liked

I love working with a close-knit group of student nurses to manage the diabetes of children, while they get to experience a normal summer camp. This camp is such an amazing place, where diabetes becomes the norm. Everyone who works here or goes to the camp becomes immensely attached to it. It is one of my favorite places in the world.

What I wish was different

I wish that there would have been more student nurses working there.

Advice

I would recommend that you engage with the kids and staff that have been there for years as they can teach you a lot.
