Amazing hands-on experience with strong leadership. Very friendly and social atmosphere, with frequent social events after work for the day concludes, like weekly pizza nights at the director's house. Specialists in the field come often to make presentations on certain aspects of archaeology and history.
What I wish was different
I wouldn't change a thing about my two summers in Athens.
Advice
Although you will benefit most from this as a Classics major, don't worry about it too much. Plenty of people there were not majoring in Classics. Just make sure you do have enough passion in ancient history to spend long hours in the sun to learn about it.
